ISIC Cape Town 2018: A Milestone for Global ASI Collaboration
The International Sensory Integration Congress (ISIC) held in Cape Town, South Africa, on 26–27 May 2018, marked a pivotal moment in the global advancement of Ayres’ Sensory Integration (ASI). The event was themed “An international journey of research, practice, advocacy and education in ASI.“

Keynotes from leading experts such as Dr. Zoe Mailloux, Prof. Diane Parham, Prof. Roseann Schaaf, and Dr. Susanne Smith Roley.

Presentations on the latest research, including the use of ASI with autism, effectiveness research, and the development of new tools like the SPM-2 and EASI.

Workshops on Data-Driven Decision Making (DDDM), adult mental health (led by Kath Smith, United Kingdom), and intervention planning.

The official launch of the EASI International Normative Data Collection invites global collaboration in building an inclusive, cross-cultural assessment tool.

The first general meeting of the International Council for Education in Ayres Sensory Integration (ICE-ASI) established the ICE-ASI Executive. Directors Kath Smith and Ros Urwin represented ASI Wise and the UK and Ireland at this formative meeting.
Their participation helped shape international education standards for ASI and reinforced the UK and Ireland’s longstanding contribution as leaders in the field of ASI across the Lifespan.
ASI Wise’s training pathway (CLASI CASI) aligns with the ICE-ASI Level 2 standards that were further consolidated through discussions at this event.
