Spilling the Beans… & the Coffee! ☕

Welcome to “From Kath’s Desk“—a space for musings, reflections, and the occasional (inevitable) coffee spill! Here, ideas percolate, insights brew, and sometimes, well, I just spill the beans.

This is a place for unplugged thoughts – whether on sensory integration, occupational therapy, mental health, or the small but significant moments that shape our work and thinking. It’s about sharing, learning, and hopefully sparking meaningful conversations over coffee (or tea, if that’s your preference).

The inspiration for this first post was last night’s phenomenal tutor group – attended by over 60 people! The energy, the discussions, and the depth of learning were incredible. But what resonated most were our reflections at the end – the recognition of all the behind-the-scenes work that makes these moments possible.

For those who know me well, you’ve probably caught glimpses of this. But for those who don’t, I hope this space offers a window into that unseen effort—the thinking, planning, and passion that drive learning, research, and clinical practice in sensory integration and occupational therapy.

As someone who embraces neurodiversity, I’ve found that my unique perspectives often lead to innovative ideas and approaches. I’m excited to share more about this in future posts.

So, grab your favourite mug and join me. Some posts will be deep dives into sensory integration, others lighthearted reflections, but all will come from a place of passion for making a difference in the world of OT and beyond.

Stay tuned for the first real post, which is coming soon! In the meantime… what’s in your mug today? ☕💭
