There’s something incredibly special about seeing the impact of a topic you’re passionate about in action.
This week, I arrived at work to find a wonderful surprise! I work in a school-based setting, and one of my colleagues had downloaded the newly released ‘Our Eight Amazing Senses’ poster from Sensory Project and proudly displayed it in our staff room under the ‘Therapy News’ section.
This poster, created by ASI Wise and Sensory Project, is designed to raise awareness around all eight senses—going beyond the well-known five to include vestibular, proprioception, and interoception and how they work together in the body. These additional senses play a crucial role in how we experience and navigate the world, particularly for those with sensory integration and processing differences.
Our sensory systems are fundamental to occupational performance, influencing everything from self-care and learning to social interactions and emotional regulation. When sensory processing is disrupted, everyday tasks can become challenging, highlighting the importance of understanding and supporting sensory needs.
It’s fantastic to see resources like this being embraced in the workplace, sparking curiosity and meaningful conversations about the importance of sensory integration and processing in both therapy and everyday life. The more we spread awareness, the more we can foster understanding and support for those with sensory needs.
Have you seen the new posters yet? Let us know how you’re using them in your setting! We would love to see them in action—please share pictures and tag ASI Wise and Sensory Project.
