Setting the Record Straight – Answers to your Questions about our Sensory Integration education programme and Learning Resources
We’ve received questions regarding our Sensory Integration education offer and recent statements from another sensory integration training provider (SIE) about programme history, credit structures, and university accreditation. Our offers has set the UK and Ireland standard in the field.
Here’s our transparent and respectful clarification about our Ayres’ Sensory Integration education programme, an offer that includes a remarkable structure of learning resources.
Our Historical Sensory Integration Education Programme Contribution
Members of the current ASI Wise Board of Directors were instrumental in the original design and development of the UK and Ireland’s (and we think in the world) first MSc in Sensory Integration, partnering with Ulster University in 2011. In 2017, we established ASI Wise, continuing to evolve and enhance this pathway, maintaining innovation and rigorous academic and clinical standards. In 2021, we launched the first MSc Advancing Practice Sensory Integration, a part of our education programme offer.
MSc in Sensory Integration University Accreditation and Credit Structures
Our Ulster University ASI Wise PGCert (60 Level-7 credits) fully aligns with UK university conventions and academic standards. Our intervention module occurs clearly after foundational and assessment modules (at 90 credits) – standard UK postgraduate practice, so that after adding the first two research modules, candidates receive their PG Dip (120 Level-7 credits). This is part of the ASI Wise Ayres Sensory Integration education program offered, designed for flexible learning.
Our accreditation and flexible registration process via Ulster University ensures NHS-friendly training, allowing therapists to balance studies effectively with professional practice, completing their MSc upgrade within 5 years of completing the ASI Wise and CLASI certificates.
This flexibility is a key element of our programme. NHS managers and private practice owners have requested support for flexible, affordable routes to upskill the workforce. This route also allows therapists to apply for their MSc Upgrade with scholarships and awards from grant funding bodies like the Elisabeth Casson Trust and RCOT Annual Awards.
University Student Support & Library Access MSc Advancing Practice Ayres Sensory Integration education programme
All ASI Wise, Ayres’ sensory integration postgraduate students enrolled via Ulster University benefit from comprehensive student services, including library access, academic, SEN and mental health support, consistent with other universities. This is an essential part of our sensory integration education programme offer.
Additionally, our programme is uniquely tailored to provide NHS-focused, flexible, and cost-effective training options. These include tutor support, live in-person tutoring via 4 x monthly tutor groups, and 24 Community of Practice online tutoring groups with live in-person Peer Support Special Interest Groups, reflecting practice areas across the UK and Ireland. We host regular webinars, sensory workshops and sensory integration continuing professional development opportunities.
At ASI Wise, our core values remain openness, transparency, and ethical accuracy. We warmly encourage prospective students to engage with us directly for further clarification and discussion about the Sensory Integration education programme, ensuring they take advantage of the offer.
