We are immersed in Menopause Awareness Month, with World Menopause Day being celebrated today, the 18th of October.
It is time to stop taking this stage of a woman’s life for granted. For too long, it’s been dealt with in silence; it has been dismissed or misunderstood, often leaving women to go through it alone and feeling ashamed of their symptoms.
When menopause is not shared openly, women are less likely to seek support for symptoms like hot flashes, brain fog, anxiety, depression, insomnia,… symptoms that can really influence physical and mental health, relationships, and careers.
This year’s focus is: Lifestyle Medicine in Menopausal Health.
Maintaining healthy habits can greatly benefit women during this transitional period of life. As the root cause of all menopause symptoms is the drop in hormones (especially the decline in estrogen and progesterone), having a healthy and natural lifestyle can help women feel much better in their daily lives.

Among several habits, utilising body movement for self-regulation and learning how to activate or calm the different sensory systems can help women maintain a regulated self-state when experiencing menopausal symptoms, which is crucial for achieving and maintaining good physical and mental health during this life stage.
We invite you to read the post from last year’s Menopause Day, where you will find different daily life habits to take into account during this stage of life in women:
