Welcome to this Sensory Awareness online learning, for NHS Teams working in the area of mental health or learning disability services.
This learning has been created to support greater sensory awareness in everyday practice and to help us become more aware of our senses in our interactions with the people we serve.
Sensory experiences can have a significant impact on how a person feels, responds, communicates, and manages within our services. This module has been designed to support reflection on those experiences and to encourage us all, whatever our role, to think about how we can respond in more sensory aware, compassionate, and helpful ways.
The intention is to strengthen day-to-day practice through greater awareness of the person, the environment, and the interaction itself. Often, small shifts in how we notice and respond can make an important difference to a person’s experience of care and support.
It should take around one hour to complete. We would also really value your feedback, as this will help us refine the learning as it continues to develop.
Thank you for your time, your care, and your ongoing contribution to improving the experience of the people we serve.
