What this product includes
The visual tool and online learning are brought together so that you can understand not only what to do, but how to use Sensory Spiders™ confidently, respectfully and collaboratively.
Sensory Spiders™ visual tool
An accessible format for noticing, mapping and discussing sensory patterns that may shape comfort, focus and participation in everyday life.
Short practical online course
Clear guidance for using the tool to open conversations, stay curious and develop supportive ideas with, rather than about, the person.
See patterns more clearly
Explore a sensory world without jumping to conclusions
Sensory Spiders™ can be used to explore your own sensory world or collaboratively with someone you support. The tool helps bring different experiences into view so that patterns can be noticed, discussed and understood in context.
- Notice possible patterns across sensory experiences.
- Explore what supports comfort, focus, access and participation.
- Develop shared language for respectful sensory conversations.
- Recognise strengths, preferences and things that already help.
- Co create proportionate strategies for everyday activities.
- Keep ideas open as working hypotheses rather than fixed conclusions.
Connected Sensory Project frameworks
Link pattern noticing with participation and support
The course explores how Sensory Spiders™ can sit alongside other person led Sensory Project tools. Each resource serves a different purpose and can contribute to a wider, co produced understanding.
Notice changing states
Use shared language around body states, early cues, support and recovery, while keeping the person’s own experience central.
Look beyond the person alone
Consider how the Person, Environment, Activity and Relational response interact to shape participation in real life.
Person led
The person’s words, communication, preferences, priorities and lived experience remain central.
Neuroaffirming
Sensory differences are approached with curiosity and respect, not as failures that must be corrected.
Participation focused
Support is considered in relation to what the person wants or needs to do in everyday life.

Accessible shared learning
Who is it for?
This resource is suitable for people seeking to understand sensory experiences more clearly, whether for personal reflection or to support collaborative conversations with somebody else.
A reflective visual tool, not a diagnostic assessment
Sensory Spiders™ supports pattern noticing, communication and collaborative exploration. It does not diagnose sensory integration differences, replace occupational therapy assessment or create a fixed sensory profile. Patterns should remain open to discussion and be considered alongside health, environment, activity, relationships and the person’s own account.
