My Sensory Life Journal

Your Words. Your Choices. Your Sensory Life.

A creative, spacious journal for adults to explore sensory experiences, everyday activities and the support that matters to them.

Some days you may want to write. On others, a colour, a drawing or a few words may be enough. This journal gives you a place to notice, reflect and return, at your own pace.

Make space for your words, your choices and your sensory life.

Begin With What Matters to You

Sensory experiences happen within a whole life. A sound, movement, place or activity may feel different depending on the day, your health, the demands around you and the people you are with.

My Sensory Life Journal invites you to explore those experiences with curiosity. Notice what feels comfortable, what takes more effort and what may make rest, work, learning, relationships or other meaningful activities more possible.

Use it independently or in co-production with someone you trust. Your communication, priorities and choices guide what is recorded and what happens next.

Make It Your Own

Begin with a question, an activity or a moment you want to understand. Choose a page, use the prompts that fit and leave the rest. You can return when it is useful.

Write, draw, use colour, add symbols or work through a conversation with someone you choose. If another person contributes, agree what they may record, read or share.

The journal offers a reflective starting point. Patterns you notice can open a conversation and help you decide what to explore further.

On Paper or on Your Device

Download the fillable PDF and open it in a PDF reader that supports form fields. Type into the boxes, save your copy and return when you choose. You can also print the pages you want for writing, drawing or a shared conversation.

Keep a blank master and make a new copy for another day, week or month. Save a short test entry, close the file and reopen it to check that your PDF reader keeps your writing.

Using Your Licence With Care

Each licensed professional may reproduce the permitted person-facing journal and reflection pages for people they directly support, including copies for completion and the person’s own records. Keep the title, authorship, copyright and licence identification on those copies.

Named licences cover the people using the resource independently. Shared logins, circulation of the blank resource to unlicensed colleagues, shared resource collections, translation, local rebranding, training delivery and wider organisational platform use require the appropriate written permission.

The person’s own completed journal belongs with their choices about who may read or receive it. Attribution and a professional licence do not replace consent.

Read The Sensory Project’s attribution and use guidance alongside the licence supplied with your purchase.

Part of a Connected Sensory Approach

The journal brings personal Sensory Ladders®, Sensory Spiders™ and Sensory Tracks™ reflection into everyday life. You can choose the pages and tools that fit your question.

For a wider view of the person, environment, activity and relationships, explore the PEAR TREE™ Lens. Further learning is available through Sensory Ladders® and the adult sensory resources.

A Sensory Project publication. Sensory Ladders® was developed by occupational therapist Kath Smith through practice and co-production. Please retain the original credits when using permitted pages.
