Ana Sainz

Leadership Team | Ops & Community Hub | Education Team

Ana is an occupational therapist from Spain. After studying her degree in Madrid, she moved to the United Kingdom and had the experience of working as a support worker with people with learning disabilities. She also travelled, and she was working in a special school in India, when she discovered more about Ayres’ Sensory Integration.

After these experiences, she specialised in ASI and worked in paediatrics for several years. During this time, she gained hands-on experience applying ASI in clinical settings as well as in children’s everyday environments. She found it essential to collaborate closely with families, other therapists, and teachers, working as a team to provide quality support to each child. Nowadays, she is involved in a research project focused on neurodiversity and mental health, working with adolescents. As part of ASI-Wise, she is on the admin and educational team, mainly involved in the Sensory Ladders Translation Project. She also supports lecturers during workshops and assists with and creates content for the website.

She truly enjoys being immersed in an international environment and learning new things every day. Moreover, she is deeply passionate about body movement. She practices several sports and yoga in her daily life. She is exploring this practice more intentionally from a knowledge-based perspective, as she is particularly interested in how yoga can benefit people of all ages and conditions and its connection to nervous system function and sensory integration.
